CAO MX2

March 27, 2007 at 12:07 am (Uncategorized)

The first CAO cigar I ever smoked was the CAO MX2, and I have been a fan of the company ever since. Unlike some of my lesser palated friends I like to mix things up and smoke a variety of cigars. I like trying different flavors, and have yet to really settle on one favorite. CAO as a whole has made this easy and the MX2 is not exception. The 2 stands for two Maduro wrappers and are wrapped around tobaccos from six different countries. It is hard to pin this cigar down as far as flavor because in the 6×54 Toro I smoked recently I ran into just about every flavor imaginable. As is common with CAO the quality of the cigar stood on its own. The wrapper, burn, and finish are what CAO is about the MX2 stands up to its name. Whether you are new to smoking and your nickname is “Chimney” the MX2 will be 45 minutes of dark, rich, smoky, tastiness.

Deals Looking for that perfect Father’s Day pres…

Deals

Looking for that perfect Father’s Day present for yourself. Well I have a recommendation of a gift so manly your wife will think she married Grizzly Adams. Cigar.com is offering a really great deal on a XiKar cutter, 5 Graycliff cigars (two reds, two blues, and one white) and a travel Herf A Dor.

Someone bought this for me as a Christmas gift this past year and I can tell you everything you get is first class. The cutter has a lifetime unconditional warranty, the Herf A Dor was recently “borrowed” for a trip to the T4G conference and sealed so tight on the plane the two people who “borrowed” it had to pry it open with a key. And of course the White and Blue Graycliffs are both in my Top 10 cigar picks. You will have to shell out $80 bucks, but you have bought $80 dollars worth of top quality goodness. If you have never had the opportunity to try a Graycliff then you have missed out, and I doubt you run across many deals like this. Usually these 5 cigars alone would run about $100 bucks.

Try Something New, Cheap

posted by Juan Cigarillo

Over the last several months I seldom walk into a smoke shop. While I want to support these local vendors the taxes that they are forced to pay and pass on to me make it hard for them to compete with the current internet business. If I am wanting to try a new cigar then I may step into a humidor, but that is happening less and less.

What I have personally discovered is it takes more than one cigar for me to decide if I like it or not. Consistency is very important in my book, and I have had some good first cigars that didn’t hold up on the second or third.

That being the case I was glad to discover cigarbid.com. If you are patient you can try cigars in five packs for prices you will never beat anywhere. I recently bought a 5 pack of the Graycliff Crystal series 6.5X50 for 32 dollars. These puppies retail for 25 a stick. Patience at cigarbid.com will save you a ton of cash. You can try a new cigar with a 5 pack that will usually run you only 2 or 3 times what one cigar would cost at a local smoke shop. This is not Ebay, so it is not flooded with traffic. Pick your choice and then try and find one with the most available to bid on. This seems to keep the price down. Happy bidding, and if you see “SH from Wildomar” beside a bid don’t run up the price.

In this opening post of Cigar Reviews I thought I might state a few helpful tips. When reviewing cigars I do actually use a formula. However, unlike other reviews sites I am not trying to sell anything. Therefore I factor in some things others may not such as price and availability. Obviously taste gets a higher percentage than appearence, but a high price might drive a cigar rating down if it is not significantly better than a comparable cheaper cigar.

I will be honest and tell you what I like and what I don’t like. Of course my tastes may not always match yours, but that is one of the things that makes cigar smoking great. I hope this site helps you save some money and find a great smoke. Enjoy cigar reviews.
